We aim to establish and promote concrete mechanisms that enable the appropriate management of information on chemical substances and other materials contained in articles, and that facilitate their smooth disclosure and communication throughout the supply chain.
The CMP Consortium operates the Chemical & Circular Management Platform (hereinafter “CMP”) as well as chemSHERPA, with the objective of contributing to the realization of a sustainable society by promoting the proper and efficient management and communicating of information on chemical substances contained in products and information related to resource circulation.
The Article Management Promotion Consortium (JAMP: Joint Article Management Promotion-consortium) was reorganized in October 2025 and began operations as a new organization.
Accurately and promptly responding to changes in international requirements for chemical substance management has become indispensable for ensuring business continuity.
For example, in responding to the ELV Directive and the RoHS Directive, as well as to requirements under the EU REACH Regulation concerning SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern) in articles, industries such as the automotive industry and the electrical and electronic industries―each of which bears responsibility for legal compliance―have established and operate their own procurement and investigation systems.
Responding to survey and information requests from industries and companies is a necessary effort for fulfilling corporate legal obligations. In order to respond efficiently and with a high degree of accuracy, we believe it is essential for both those requesting information and those providing it to disseminate a standardized, common mechanism that enables appropriate management of information on chemical substances and other materials contained in articles, and facilitates smooth disclosure and communication throughout the supply chain.
For articles manufactured using chemical substances or mixtures, the widespread adoption of a standardized mechanism for disclosing and transmitting information on contained chemical substances throughout the supply chain will enable effective use in existing procurement and survey activities, as well as reduce the burden of compliance with future regulations and prevent confusion.
Furthermore, in addressing the transition to a circular economy, which will be increasingly required going forward, the communicating of information on chemical substances contained in products throughout the supply chain will be a key factor. Accordingly, expectations for the CMP Consortium are expected to continue to grow.
To promote these initiatives, the CMP Consortium will establish six committees and four field-specific teams and will advance its organizational and operational activities.
